Police searched a beach in New Brighton after a suspicious object was found.
HM Coastguard was spotted parked on the beach around 10:20 a.m. this morning, June 2, while police officers searched the beach. Merseyside police said they were called after reports that a suspected rusty munition had been found.
The tide currently covers the area where the object was found and has a small cordon to prevent the public from accessing it. At this stage, the police cannot confirm the subject.

A police spokesman said: “We were called to New Brighton Beach at 10:20 a.m. this Thursday, June 2, after reports that rusty ammunition had been found.
“The tide covers the area, which is currently not publicly available and at this stage it is not possible to confirm what the subject is.
“The item will be checked when the tide disappears and will be disposed of properly.”
