The Nothing Phone (1) has a truly unique design – there’s no denying that. The LED glyphs along with the white internals look fantastic. dbrand must have thought so too, because they released Something skins, a Nothing-style version of the company’s Teardown skins.
dbrand sent me the Something skin for the Pixel 6 Pro and a Grip case with the Something skin on it. Both look absolutely fantastic and give a good look at a stylized version of the inside of the device. It has all the main hardware parts of the Pixel 6 Pro, but it’s whitened and exposed. This design focuses a lot on the wireless charging coil while adding accents to the aluminum body around the device.
The Something skins only come in white, unlike the Nothing Phone (1), which also comes in black. Black in a style like this probably won’t stand out as much as white.
The skins also have many exposed screws and a red dot, all of which are located around the Nothing Phone (1). dbrand does a really good job of mimicking the Phone (1) styling of the Pixel 6 Pro.
There are currently two Android phones that dbrand makes skins for – the Galaxy S22 Ultra and the Pixel 6 Pro. Both skins are based on the dbrand disassembly skin and then customized to match the Nothing design language. Each skin takes about a week to edit to this minimal and stylized look.
Something skins are also available for the iPhone 13 Pro Max and the MagSafe charging pad. dbrand says they’re also working on Something skins for the Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck, but there’s no specific date when they’ll be available. They will also monitor the request form to see if there is enough interest on other devices to make designing skins worthwhile.
