There are more than 2,000 people with COVID-19 in hospitals in Quebec, public health said Wednesday.
The Ministry of Health recorded an increase of 97 hospitalizations related to COVID-19, with 273 new admissions and 176 discharges. There are currently 2,057 occupied beds.
Of these, 632 were admitted for complications directly related to COVID-19. The rest were admitted for other illnesses but tested positive for the virus at the hospital.
Meanwhile, two more patients with coronavirus are in intensive care, 30 of whom were admitted precisely for COVID-19, with 10 admissions and eight discharges.
Quebec Public Health Director Luc Boileau will address the province Thursday at 2 p.m. on the latest state of the pandemic.
Quebec also reported 14 new deaths from COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing the total to 15,814 since the start of the pandemic.
NEW CASES
The province added another 2,354 positive PCR tests for COVID-19 on Wednesday from 13,205 tests, making the positivity rate 14 percent.
In addition, 663 positive rapid tests were reported through the Quebec online portal.
The Ministry of Health is currently monitoring 543 outbreaks.
VACCINATION CAMPAIGN
Health workers in Quebec have administered another 12,529 doses of the vaccine. A total of 20,222,119 strokes have been given to Quebecers so far.
Approximately 91 percent of Quebecers received at least one shot, 56 percent received three and 17 percent received four.
