Quinn Snyder: “I feel strongly that they need a new voice in order to continue to develop. That’s it. There are no philosophical differences, no other reason. After 8 years, I just feel it’s time to move on. I had to take the time to retire after the season and make sure it was the right decision. ” pic.twitter.com/CRd277ttX8

Snyder trained Jazz to a record 49-33 last season for their second consecutive first place in the Northwest Division and sixth consecutive post-season participation. Utah lost to the Dallas Mavericks in the first round of the playoffs in six games.

Snyder had one year left on his contract. Athletic’s Amick himself said after the loss that Snyder was “unsure” of his future with Utah, adding that “almost every scenario seems to be on the table”. Amick noted that Snyder still has the opportunity to stay on the team, find a new job or just take a year off.

Snyder trains Jazz with a record 372-264 in the regular season. The team finished with the best record in the league in 2020-21. However, Utah was tormented by post-season disappointments and never made it to the second round. In six playoff appearances, Snyder had a 21-30 record with three first-round appearances in the last four years.

Although they had an All-Stars couple in Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Robert, jazz struggled to build chemistry last season. There were rumors that Mitchell or Robert hoped to part with Utah, but both publicly confirmed their commitment to the team.

Since Snyder is no longer in charge, Jazz will turn the page to find someone to take them to the next level. At the moment, it seems that Utah will continue to develop around Mitchell and Robert, so the next head coach will inherit a solid list.
