ST. JOHN’S, NL –
A West Newfoundland woman says she is still shaken after waking up early Sunday morning to find that RCMP officers broke into her home while her family slept and questioned her 11-year-old daughter.
Courtney Pike says it was around 5:30 a.m. when she heard a male voice shout “Hello!” in her house, which made her boyfriend Andrew Dunphy jump out of bed and open the bedroom door.
She said in an interview today that he saw two male RCMP officers walking down the hall to the couple’s room, adding that officials said they were looking for a missing girl.
Pike says that when the police officers left, her 11-year-old daughter said that the two police officers had entered her room and questioned her.
The Newfoundland and Labrador RCMP said in a statement today that officers were looking for a missing girl and knocked and rang the doorbell before entering the house.
Pike says there is no bell in her house and the experience has made her feel disturbed and insecure.
