Representative Greg Stubeb shows firearms during a gun control hearing

MP Greg Stubb (R-Fla.) Attacked his fellow House Judge members on Thursday after one of his fellow Democrats said he was showing firearms during a gun control hearing.

Stube, who was involved in the video call from home, showed three pistols and a number of high-capacity magazines, arguing that Democrat legislation would ban gun ownership – including what Stube said he carried every day.

“Here is a magazine with 12 rounds. This magazine will be banned under this bill. It doesn’t fit, “Stube said as he tried to put different cartridges in the three pistols.

“This pistol is made for refills with 20 and 21 rounds. These weapons will be banned under this bill. Here is the SIG Sauer 320, it requires a cartridge with 20 rounds … here is a cartridge with 12 rounds, which will be banned. It doesn’t fit. ”

As he spoke, Stube nearly dropped one of the cartridges as he tried to shove it into one of his weapons.

“Here’s a gun I carry every day to protect myself, my family, my wife and my home,” the Florida Republican continued. “This is the XL Sig Sauer P365. Comes with a cartridge with 15 rounds. Here is a magazine of seven cartridges, which would be less than what would be legal under this bill if this bill became law.

“I hope the gun is not loaded,” said Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas).

“I am in my house. “I can do whatever I want with my weapons,” Stube said to his colleague.

The commission later approved party legislation that would raise the legal age for buying a semi-automatic rifle from 18 to 21. It will also prohibit the production or possession of high-capacity refills.

However, like most gun control laws, the bill is expected to fail in the evenly divided Senate.

Two other bills to expand inspections of potential arms buyers are stalled in the Senate and will not garner the 60 votes needed to make progress.

Everything you need to know about this gun control package: Democrats don’t even want to let me show what they’re trying to ban.

Thursday’s hearing took place before President Biden delivered a stern address in prime time in response to the recent wave of mass shootings across the country and called on Congress to take action.

“I respect the culture, tradition and concerns of legitimate gun owners,” Biden said in a 17-minute speech. “At the same time, the Second Amendment, like all other rights, is not absolute.

“We need to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines,” Biden said. “And if we can’t ban assault weapons, then we need to raise the age to buy them from 18 to 21.”

The president then condemned Republicans in the Senate for preventing a debate on the proposals, calling their actions “unscrupulous.”

“You can’t fail the American people again,” he added.

Biden also vowed to meet with congressional leaders to discuss potential weapons reform in the coming weeks.
