Listen up, fans of silly things: San Diego Comic-Con 2022 is happening right now, which means news, trailers and teasers for upcoming movies, TV shows, games, toys and more.
Here’s a selection of highlights as we pick some of the coolest things to inject into your eyes straight from SDCC 2022. We’ll keep adding more as the panels roll out over the weekend.
Black Adam
DC’s anti-hero actioner Black Adam hits theaters on October 21, and a new trailer has hinted at the moral choices Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s character will face in the film.
Shazam: Wrath of the Gods
Shazam: Fury of the Gods, the sequel to 2019’s Shazam, will bring more magical superhero action to theaters on December 21. It got a new trailer during Saturday’s Warner Bros. panel, revealing Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu as a pair of very scary baddies.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power opens on Amazon Prime Video on September 2, and a new trailer has given us another taste of the backstory. The show is set in the Second Age of Middle-earth, and it certainly sounds like the big bad Sauron is out to spread darkness over the land.
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves Trailer
Chris Pine is a scheming, lute-playing bard, Michelle Rodriguez is a barbarian, Reje-Jean Page of Bridgerton and The Gray Man is a warrior, Justice Smith is a mage, and Sophia Lillis is a shape-shifting druid. They pull off a heist in a fantasy adventure that looks like a lot of fun, full of classic D&D creatures like dragons, shifting beasts, a mime, an Owl bear, and Hugh Grant.
Moon girl and devil dinosaur clip
This fun Marvel animated series has a crazy cast announced at SDCC: Alison Brie, David Diggs, Maya Hawke (from Stranger Things), Jennifer Hudson, Cobie Smulders, Craig Robinson, India Moore, Mae Kalamavi (Moon Knight), Method Man (!), Wesley Snipes (!!) and astronaut Dr. May Jemison (!!!). Laurence Fishburne also stars, having a hand in the creation of the entire project as well. Due in 2023 on Disney Channel and Disney Plus, the animated series sees Diamond White play Lunella Lafayette, a 13-year-old super-genius who teams up with, well, a dinosaur.
Gotham Knights Batgirl Trailer
Batman spinoff game Gotham Knights is heading to PS5, Xbox Series X and PC on October 25. In the game, you play as Batman’s sidekicks Robin, Nightwing, Red Hood, or Batgirl, and at SDCC, a new trailer focuses on the latter, aka Barbara Gordon. In-game footage and cutscenes see the purple and yellow clad crime fighter show off her fighting skills, weaponry and glider cape on the mean streets of Gotham.

X-Men ’97 Release Date
Marvel’s animated reboot of the iconic 1990s X-Men cartoon will air on Disney Plus in fall 2023.
Spider-Man: Freshman Year release date
I don’t know if you’ve heard of this Spider-Man character, but apparently he deserves his own animated series. Spider-Man: Freshman Year airs elsewhere on Disney Plus in 2024.
What if…? season 2 release date
Marvel Animated Series What if…? will return to Disney Plus in early 2023. The first series established elements of the multiverse that have proven important in recent MCU films, so perhaps season 2 will also be a testing ground for more cool things for the MCU.
Marvel Zombies release date
Speaking of What If…?, one of the episodes took us to a branch of the MCU multiverse dominated by the undead. That’s expanding into a full Marvel Zombies animated series on Disney Plus — but not until 2024.
Teen Wolf: The Movie Trailer
When the moon is full, Teen Wolf transforms from a movie, then to a TV show, and then back to a movie. Streaming service Paramount Plus has released a new trailer for a movie reuniting the cast of the 2011 TV show, including Tyler Posey, Crystal Reed and Tyler “Superman” Hoecklin. They appeared in 6 seasons of lycanthropic adventures based on the 1980 Michael J. Fox film, and now add shadow ninjas and more supernatural action.
National Treasure: On the Edge of History
There’s no Nicolas Cage in this Disney Plus TV reboot of the family treasure hunt adventure, but Harvey Keitel and Justin Bartha will appear. The teaser introduces Lizette Olivera as a new generation Tomb Raider, sorry, national treasure hunter.

The new Predator movie was screened to audiences at SDCC ahead of its August 5 streaming release on Hulu (in the US) and Disney Plus elsewhere.
Mike Judge’s Beavis and Butthead
Streamer Paramount Plus also unveiled a clip from the ’90s-era reboot featuring grinning metalheads Beavis and Butt-Head, which premieres on August 4.
Wheel of time season 3
Amazon Prime Video has renewed the fantasy series The Wheel of Time, based on the books by Robert Jordan, for a third season before the second season has even started airing. Amazon also announced a series of short films to precede Season 2.

SDCC attendees can check out costumes from the upcoming Disney Plus Star Wars series Andor, which airs August 31.
Power Rangers $132 Dragonzord Reveal
The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Dragonzord is getting a higher-end replica as part of Hasbro’s Zord Ascension project.

Hasbro showed off the higher-end $132 Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Dragonzord that CNET previewed before Thursday’s Boom Studios panel. Part of Hasbro’s Ascension Project Zord line, this Dragonzord can be combined with the earlier Megazord from this line in Super Megazord and Battle Mode.
