Saving a tree: An Ottawa man is seriously injured after a tree falls and traps him

Paramedics in Ottawa say a 70-year-old man is in hospital after being released from a fallen tree.

The first responders were called to a Fluelin Road property near Conley and Munster roads in rural southwestern Ottawa around 1:30 p.m. The man was cutting a tree when it fell, nailing it to a stump.

Ottawa firefighters helped lift the tree from the man while paramedics treated him at the site for a shoulder injury.

After he was safely released from under the tree, an Ornge air ambulance took him to the hospital in a serious but stable condition.
