Sunday night was tense for some people in central Alberta as tornado warnings were issued by Environment Canada.
The town of Coronation, about 315 kilometers southeast of Edmonton, was under a tornado warning for about an hour as rain, hail and strong winds battered the community.
Residents also saw what appeared to be a funnel cloud touching down around 5:15 p.m
Warnings were also issued for Flagstaff County (around 4 p.m.) and Paint County (near Castor). Both warnings were in effect for about an hour.
Later Sunday, at about 9:45 p.m., another tornado warning was issued for Clearwater County, west of Red Deer, and was in effect for about half an hour.
The storm made its way to the southeast.

According to the Alberta Emergency Alert website, the critical alert was triggered by a “rotating severe thunderstorm possibly producing a tornado.”

The agency said the storm was “15 kilometers east of Castor, moving southeast at 40 km/h”.
Golf ball-sized hail was reported, the AEA said.
