See The First Starfield Gameplay Xbox & Bethesda Showcase 2022

Starfield closed the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase on Sunday with fifteen minutes of gameplay detailing exploration, storytelling, character customization and the vastness of the world before reaffirming the game’s 2023 launch window.

Watch the full presentation led by Todd Howard of Bethesda below:

Starfield’s incredibly impressive presentation begins with a spaceship landing on a barren planet before the protagonist emerges in what appears to be the most impressive graphic and detailed world created by Bethesda Softworks to date. The perspective shifts from first to third person as insect-like enemies recede and we learn the mechanics of digging the game and ultimately fighting.

Gunplay seems to have seen a significant upgrade from a game like Fallout 4, which looks much smoother and more like a shooter. Bullets fly and the internal environment explodes with explosions. There is also no VAT-like targeting system shown here. Although the battle is definitely closer to that of a first-person shooter, there is no doubt that this is a Bethesda RPG. Exploring and collecting prey seems just as key in Starfield.

And there’s a lot of Starfield to explore. Once you create your character, create their appearance and choose their features, players will be ready to board their ship (also incredibly personalized) and set off to one of the 1000 unique planets – some of them colonized with huge cities with every inch of a planet that can be explored. My writing here does not make it fair, you should see this presentation.

Undoubtedly the most remarkable presentation of the entire Xbox & Bethesda showcase has reason to be preserved to the last.

‍Starfield will launch on Xbox and PC in 2023. The game will be available in Xbox Game Pass at launch.
