Serena Williams to return to Wimbledon tennis Serena Williams

Serena Williams has predicted that she will compete at Wimbledon this year, which will mark her return to the race after a one-year hiatus.

In an Instagram post Tuesday, she included a photo of her sneakers and ankle braces on the grass with her tennis bag in the background. Williams signed the photo: “SW and SW19. This is a meeting. 2022, see you there. ” She also marked the Eastbourne national in the photo, the WTA event before Wimbledon, which begins next week, along with her coach, attacking partner and Eric Hechtman, coach of her sister Venus. Wimbledon starts on June 27

Williams had not competed since last year’s Wimbledon first-round match against Alexandra Sasnovich when she slipped on the wet grass and was forced to retire early in the first set. Meanwhile, her ranking dropped to 1208, and since she did not apply for a protected ranking before Wimbledon, she will require a wildcard to enter the event.

With 23 Grand Slam titles in singles, Williams currently holds the record for the Open Age Grand Slam. At Wimbledon, she won seven singles titles, six women’s doubles titles with her sister Venus, and the mixed doubles title in 1998. After winning her 23rd Grand Slam title while pregnant with her daughter Olympia in Australia in 2017, Williams returned from maternity leave in 2018.

Although she has since reached four Grand Slam finals, including at Wimbledon in 2018 and 2019, Williams has failed to win a set in any of those finals. Williams turns 41 on September 26.
