Show business reporter Bev Lyons was one of the lucky ones to catch a glimpse of the actor.
She said: “It was great to see Johnny. He had a lot of security around him and didn’t say much, but he was really smiling and happy to meet some fans. “

The Hollywood star’s appearance in Glasgow comes just days after he won a defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife Amber Heard on Wednesday.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star received $ 10 million in damages yesterday (£ 8 million) and another $ 5 million (£ 4 million) from the jury yesterday.
The actor is suing the Aquaman star for an article entitled: “I spoke out against sexual violence – and I face the wrath of our culture. That needs to change. “
The song does not mention Johnny Depp by name, but his lawyers told him that he falsely assumed that he physically and sexually abused Hurd while they were together.
Hurd also won $ 2 million (£ 1.6 million) after a jury found she had been slandered by Depp’s lawyer when he called her allegations of fraud fraudulent.
He chose not to hear the verdict in person and instead went out to drink with Jeff and his colleague Sam Fender in Newcastle.
