PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) – Two men died after a shooting at a home in South Philadelphia.
A shooting broke out around 1:35 p.m. Monday at block 1600 on S. 10th Street.
Police say two men allegedly trying to break into a home were shot dead by two men in the house.
A 33-year-old man received 15 gunshot wounds all over his body, police said.
He was taken to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The other man is believed to be between 25 and 30 years old. He received five gunshot wounds, police said. He was also pronounced dead in Jefferson.
The names of the dead are not reported.
“It’s surprising. This neighborhood is usually very safe. It’s a shock to see something like this happen. I live one block from us,” John Carrosa said. “It’s sad. It’s a sign of the times, unfortunately.”
“I have been here for six years. I feel really safe. “They just stole my catalyst and I think maybe it’s time to move out – for something like this to happen in the middle of the afternoon …”, said Mary Grace McHale.
Police say no weapons have been found and no one has been arrested.
The two men who shot the suspects are said to be cooperating in the investigation.
But what happened here made neighbors afraid of what might happen next.
“There are no more fistfights. All you have to do is pull out a gun and shoot,” Koroza said.
“Things are getting worse here. Now there is a double murder and everyone has a gun. I tell my wife to stay inside, not to go out without me. And now it’s getting very close to home,” said Nick, who lives nearby.
