The provincial special investigations department has invoked its mandate and will investigate the death of a 36-year-old man who was arrested by the Quinte West OPP.
SIU reports that Quinte West OPP officers arrested the man at around 9:30 a.m. Thursday morning in the Front Street and Dundas Street West areas, took him to the police station and placed him in a cell.
It was found that the man did not react around 10:30
The staff started the man’s first aid, including the application of naloxone until the arrival of the ambulance.
He was pronounced dead at 11:14 p.m.
SIU has appointed three investigators and one forensic scientist in the case.
