South Street shooting: 13 shot dead, 2 killed after shooting in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) – At least 13 people were shot dead and two were killed in a mass shooting late Saturday night on South Street in Philadelphia.

It all started just before midnight at the intersection with Third Street.

Police say an E-911 call was received for a man with a gun and a large crowd.

A police officer arrived on the scene and saw a man shooting at a crowd of people, police said.

The officer fired three times with his service weapon, police said. It is not known if the suspect was hit.

There was no immediate information on the identities of those killed.

Seven of the victims were taken to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where one of them was pronounced dead on arrival.

Three other victims were taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. One of these victims was also pronounced dead on arrival.

Three other wounded are being treated at Temple University Hospital.

No one was injured by the police.
