St. John Sees Victoria’s warmest holiday in nearly 30 years

It was a warm and sunny long weekend on May 24 across the island, with some of the warmest temperatures in nearly 30 years reported on the subway.

This is according to Rodney Barney of the Gander Meteorological Service.

He says St. John’s International Airport reached 23.2 degrees yesterday, the highest temperature recorded over the long weekend of May 24 since 1993.

On Sunday, May 23 of the same year, the temperature reached 23.4 degrees.

A warm holiday to Victoria of Avalon.

The high 23.2 ° C this afternoon in St. John’s #YYT marks the highest temperature in May’s long weekend since 1993! Reached 23.4 ° C on Sunday, the 23rd of that year.

It is also the warmest day observed since September 22, 2021. #nlwx pic.twitter.com/wjq4W12Bea
