Stanley Cup Final 2022 – Highlights, Scenes and Breakdown by Colorado Avelanche-Tampa Bay Lightning Game 4

Tampa Bay Lightning showed little life in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup final in 2022 against Colorado Avelanche on Monday. After breaking up in Match 2, Tampa received goals from six different scorers in a 6-2 victory.

After conceding 11 goals in the first two games, Andrei Vassilevski returned to form in the net, making 37 saves. Lightning has already won the franchise’s record eight consecutive home playoff games.

And for the 23rd consecutive season there will be no swing in the Stanley Cup final.

Avs center Nathan McKinnon, who has scored 32 goals in the regular season, has finally broken his mini-drop in the Stanley Cup final. He finally got on the board in the second period with a wild goal, which bounced off his skate after a shot by Miko Rantanen.

This will be a key night in Tampa before the series returns to Denver for Friday’s Game 5. Here are all the sights and sounds from Game 4.

Latest conclusions from game 4

Colorado again went for a quick final in overtime.

Three of the 15 post-regulation periods in these playoffs ended in 90 seconds or less. Andre Burakowski finished things quickly for Colorado at the end of Game 1 with a 4-3 OT.

Valery Nichuskin came dangerously close to doing it again with his quick attempt against Andrei Vassilevky, but failed to get enough air under the puck to beat Tampa Bay’s impressive defensive cover.

Logan O’Connor had the next great chance to score in the break, but did not get a great shot against Vasilevski. The goalkeeper easily stopped his attempt.

.

Bowen Bayram hit the crossbar. Devon Toews hits the crossbar. Vassilevsky stopped slapping Josh Manson.

It was right for Nazem Kadri to finish in overtime to give Avalanche a 3-1 series lead in the Stanley Cup final.“Kristen Shilton.”

Nazem Kadri is the hero in overtime, scoring the winning goal in 12 minutes. This was Kadri’s first game since breaking his thumb on June 4th.

Third period for home

The referees seemed to drown out their whistles.

This happened in the third period, when Colorado and Tampa Bay slowed down in search of the winning goal.

However, players on both sides did not seem pleased. There were calls to officials for calls, which could lead to a huge change in momentum.

There are no such decisions from the referees.

Nevertheless, this was an appropriate end to the regulation. This was the most contested game in the series. Tampa Bay looked dominant early and Avalanche overtook them in the third. Both Darcy Kumper and Andrei Vassilevsky were fantastic.

This provides a great finale in the sequel. Who broke first? “Kristen Shilton.”

Back and forth

This may be the closest match of these finals to the Stanley Cup, as Avalanche tied it again with a goal by Nico Sturm.

Avalanche second period for home

Nathan McKinnon entered the chat.

He couldn’t have come at a better time.

The Colorado star center was bitten by a snake to start the Stanley Cup final, failing to score in the first three games. McKinnon promised not to be disappointed (his trait during past declines) and to keep firing until he found a place.

His goal in power play was not beautiful, nor did it require a real blow. But that tied the score in match 4 at 1-1.

McKinnon actually passed the puck to Miko Rantanen and Rantanen sent it back into the net, where the puck bounced off his skate and past Andrei Vassilevski.

They don’t ask how. They ask how much.

But no one needed a goal like McKinnon. As the stars of Tampa Bay grew stronger, it was painful for Colorado to see their outstanding performer with just two assists on three outings.

Still a permanent problem? Colorado has no equal goal after the series moved to Tampa; all three have arrived so far with the extra person. Not great. “Kristen Shilton.”

Lightning extracts from the second period

Last night was a strange night for Lightning defender Victor Hedman and Colorado Avalanche defender Cale McCarthy. It was the night before Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final and they were dressed in costumes at the NHL Awards dinner at a local brewery in Tampa. Hedman tuned in just to watch McCarry win the Norris trophy as the best defender in the NHL. This was the sixth time Hedman had been nominated for the award. He has won it only once.

So there was probably some satisfaction for Headman in the second period when he scored the goal that made up Norris’ trophies: hanging through the neutral zone, then Avalanche’s defense before shooting past Darcy Kumper’s 2-1 lead. 10:42 hours of the period. Much of that goal was Jack Johnson’s defense and Kumper’s breath? Of course it was. But still, it was a great move and a monumental goal for Hedman. We are checking the NHL rules to see if Although he should legally hand over Norisa to him now.

The other great performance in the second period was the goalkeeper Andrey Vassilevski. He gave up a power play goal on a puck that bounced off Nathan McKinnon’s skate – the sixth goal in the Avalanche series – but was otherwise a retro Big Cat with 15 saves for the period. If Lightning didn’t block them, he would save them.

However, the period did not end well for the Bolts. Anthony Sirelli, their key defensive center against the McKinnon line, left the ice, shaking hands a little over a minute later. Definitely something to watch out for the third.“Greg Wiszynski.”

Tampa regains the lead

Victor Hedman gave Lightning their first goal of the second period and led 2-1. This is Hedman’s third goal of the post-season and the first since May 10.

All tied up

Avalanche hit back a few minutes in the second period, with MacKinnon rebounding for his first goal of the series after 32 attempts, most by each player on both teams.

Avalanche first period for home

Colorado couldn’t see it starting.

It will take Tampa Bay just 36 seconds to rise 1-0 over Avalanche in an incredibly incredible sequence.

The lightning had good pressure in the attack zone early when Eric Chernak shot at Darcy Kumper, who knocked down the goalkeeper’s mask. After that, Kuemper could not stop to stop the subsequent play of Anthony Cirelli, who put Tampa Bay on the board.

Usually, when the goalkeeper’s mask is taken off, a signal is heard immediately, but in this case, as there was a constant chance to score, the game was allowed to continue.

Kuemper had been in a tough enough match 4 before. He was approved to start after being drawn in the middle of Game 3 to concede five goals in 22 shots. There was no need for a strange goal to ruin his confidence. Kuemper bounced well (unintended) well as Avalanche bumped in front of him, beating him 10-1 in the first 13 minutes.

In fact, Quemper was the only thing that kept Colorado together for the first 20 minutes. This is a dangerous position for Avalanche to place themselves in. He made a great stop on Stephen Stamkos’ glove and then was sharp in Tampa Bay’s late chance for power play.

Avalanche ended the period 17-4.

Hmm. “Kristen Shilton.”

Lightning statements for the first period

The Lightning is 7-1 when they have a lead after the first period in the playoffs, which is another way of saying that this is a team that knows how to play with a lead. They blocked 13 shots in front of Vassilevski and changed a few more. They blocked the neutral zone and did not allow Avalanche to build their speed game. Lightning gained a lot of time in the zone with their fork, especially with their fourth line, which won the only powerful game in the game.

However, this is still only a 1-0 lead for Lightning after the first, despite this opportunity for powerful play and 17 shots on goal. There were some wasted chances and Kumper managed to regain his footing after an unstable start. “Greg Wiszynski.”

No waste of time

It seems that Lightning are over their disastrous match 2, as they needed less than a minute for the first goal of the match. A terrible moment for Kuemper as well, as the goalkeeper grabbed a stick in his neck, which tore off his helmet.
