Starring with the Paddington bear (and what she really keeps in her handbag)

The short film touched the hearts of viewers when the Peruvian-born bear congratulated the Queen on her remarkable reign, exclaiming: “Happy anniversary, madam. And thank you for everything. ”

The monarch replied simply, “This is very kind.”

The sequence ends with the Queen and Paddington using a spoon to push the Queen’s We Will Rock You rhythm over a cup of tea.

Outside, in the real world, Her Majesty’s Royal Marine Bands and Drum Corps rushed in with a song on the main stage as the crowd thundered.

A palace spokesman said: “Her Majesty is well known for her sense of humor, so it should come as no surprise that she decided to take part in the sketch tonight.

“There was interest in the process of filming and animation, and the opportunity to invite a famous bear for tea was too much fun to miss.”

The live audience of 10,000 gasped as they recognized the Queen on screen, sending a standing ovation that echoed in the halls of Buckingham Palace.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte, who were allowed to stay up late for the occasion, looked as surprised and delighted as the audience saw “Gan Gan” in the film, clapping and waving their little Union flags with the music.
