Hahn, 44, has been with Steelers since 2001 after breaking into the NFL with the Saints in 1997. He initially served as a football administration coordinator in Pittsburgh before being elected director of the football administration in 2011. Hahn was promoted until his recent position as Vice President of Football and Business Administration in 2016. The Steelers won two Super Bowls and three AFC titles during Khan’s 21-year franchise.
Khan will follow in the footsteps of a legend in Colbert, who helped build the lists that won two Super Bowls, three AFC championships and 10 division titles. The Steelers have reached the playoffs 14 times in Colbert’s 22 years in Pittsburgh. They have only lost one season, as their series of 18 consecutive unbeaten seasons is the longest in the NFL.
“I am extremely excited about this opportunity to be the general manager of the Pittsburgh Steelers,” Hahn said in a statement from the team. “I would like to thank Art Rooney II, Mike Tomlin and Kevin Colbert for their support during this process. I am ready for this challenge and I am grateful to continue the success we had on the field during my first 21 years. I look forward to completing our football operations headquarters and working tirelessly to build another champion football team for the Steelers Nation and our community. “
The Steelers are coming out of the 2021 season, in which they qualified for the playoffs, after setting a record for the regular season 9-7-1. Pittsburgh’s offseason includes signing with free agent Mitchell Trubyschi and choosing former quarterback Pete Kenny Pickett as his 20th overall pick. Both quarterbacks will compete with Mason Rudolph for the team’s title in Week 1.
