U.S. stock indexes rose at the open as investors scanned a fresh batch of earnings to get a sense of the state of the economy.
The S&P 500 added 1% on Tuesday. The tech-focused Nasdaq Composite gained 1.2 percent and the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.7 percent. US stocks were lower on Monday.
