Stranger Things fans may feel confused if they watch the new episodes as soon as they are added to Netflix.
The second volume of the show’s fourth season arrives on Friday (July 1) at 8am.
However, according to the show’s creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, those who want to know the fates of the characters, including Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Steve (Joe Keary) and Robin (Maya Hawke), may be more better wait a little longer before watching it.
The siblings spoke to Collider editor-in-chief Steven Weintraub and told him they only finished working on the effects on Thursday (June 30). This meant that the new episodes were uploaded to the Netflix server on time – but that all the VFX shots might not be calibrated right away.
“FYI the #dufferbrothers told me they finished a bunch of VFX shots on #StrangerThings4 episode nine this morning and uploaded it to the @netflix server so if you’re watching the episode at 2am tonight you may not see the final shots,” wrote Weintraub to American fans, adding, “Better sleep and wake up and then watch.”
This, of course, works better if you’re in the US, where the majority of viewers will wait until the morning to watch the episodes. In the UK this morning, it looks like fans may notice some gimmicky effects at work.

Clarifying his comments, Weintraub then wrote: “I believe they said 20 VFX shots. he should have said that. Which means you can watch an episode and probably not notice what 10 percent wasn’t done. I don’t want it to sound like the episode isn’t 99 percent complete.
It is estimated to take 24 hours from the upload of an episode for the full effects to kick in.
Just because an episode is released doesn’t mean the episode can’t be edited either; the Duffer brothers recently revealed that they’ve gone back and tinkered with previous installments without fans knowing.
The second volume of Stranger Things season four is available to stream on Netflix now, and viewers are highlighting a “tragic” detail surrounding a heartbreaking moment that takes place in the final episode of season four.
In other series-related news, fans discovered that the end of the first volume of season four was actually gifted by a cast member in 2016.
