A motorcyclist was taken to hospital with “serious injuries” after an accident in Stoke this afternoon. Two air ambulances were called to the scene on Hartshill Road, in Stoke – near the intersection with Honeywall – at 14.35 today after reports of a collision involving a motorcyclist and another vehicle.
The Inrix traffic monitoring system reports that the road between Lovatt Street and Epworth Street is closed. Meanwhile, bus operator First turned to social media to inform passengers that certain services were being diverted.
An ambulance in the West Midlands says the motorcyclist was taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital. A spokeswoman said: “We were called at 2.35pm to signal a collision involving a motorcyclist and a minibus at the intersection of Hartshill Road and Honeywall, Stoke.
“We sent an ambulance, a paramedic and Midlands Air ambulances from Cosford and Tattenhill. We were treating the motorcyclist for serious injuries and they were transported to King Stoke University Hospital by land ambulance for further treatment. ”
Photos from the scene show a number of police officers on the road along with the collision investigation department.
A tweet from First reads: “Due to a road collision, there is currently a closed road between Stoke and the bottom of Hartshill Bank. Services 11/25 to Newcastle depart via London Road, Penkhull New Road, St Thomas Place, Princes Road to Hartshill then a normal route to Newcastle. ”
