Brentford boss Thomas Frank has promised Everton that his team will make every effort to beat Leeds United in their last game of the season this weekend – describing the match as a “cup final”.
After being defeated by the Bees on Sunday at Goodison Park, the Blues could head to their last game of the season as a guest at Arsenal, needing a result to maintain their status in the Premier League if they fall from another defeat by Crystal Palace on Thursday night.
As things stand, the Blues are two points away from the relegation zone and one point ahead of Leeds, although they have a match in hand in the hand of Jesse Marsh. And speaking after his team’s victory at Goodison, Frank promised the Blues that his team would not move to Eland Road this Sunday.

He said: “No, I think we will take out the B team! We will put our best team – it is so important to understand that we must do everything possible to win.
“It’s not about Everton, Burnley or Leeds, and I know I’m going to get a lot of questions at the press conference between the story about me and the so-called Leeds fans and the video, but there’s no story from my point of view. .
“Everyone will do their best to try to win on Sunday, and if Brentford can finish in the top 10, that’s remarkable. As far as I know, there is fair money to earn if you graduate higher for the club.
“It’s very simple; maybe after 10 years in the Premier League you don’t care if you finish 11th or 9th, but for us every game is a cup final. ”
Explaining the background behind him and Leeds supporters, Frank said: “In the Championship two years ago, I was usually very transparent and honest and didn’t play mind games. I told them by mistake [Leeds] he will be afraid to come to Griffin Park, I said.
“It simply came to our notice then [two years ago], I haven’t said anything bad since. I think Leeds is one of the biggest clubs in the country; they must be in the Premier League with history and history.

“I think they did a great job. Of course, I can’t say I want them more than Everton or Burnley, the three of them have to fight for it. [survival] and we will say who will be there [Premier League next season]”
Frank’s team twice came from behind and made the double over the Blues on Sunday afternoon. Dominic Calvert-Lewin put Everton ahead before an own goal by Seamus Coleman restored parity.
Richardson then shot the Blues forward from a penalty, but goals in the second half by John Visa and Rico Henry secured the visitors all three points. And Frank aimed after the match at those who assumed that his country was already on vacation because he had nothing to play for.
He said: “Many so-called experts have said that we are going on holiday and there is nothing to fight for.
“First and foremost, we have to be very professional and hopefully want to win every game for Brentford fans and themselves, but I think it’s very important to show respect for the league, that we’re doing everything we can because if I was in this situation, I would definitely expect other teams [to do the same]”
