Reports say Manchester United are in talks with Ajax over the possible signing of defender Jurien Timber during the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils have been prompted to make radical changes to the squad this summer, with new manager Eric ten Haag at the helm. And they don’t seem to be wasting time, with The Guardian suggesting that a dialogue has begun about the capture of Timber. United’s defense has scored 57 goals in the Premier League this season.
And this is an obvious area of concern for the new boss. Timber has been connected for some time, as Ten Hag has known him well since their time together at Ajax.
Speaking earlier this month, he said: “I think all the top clubs in Europe have Timber in their sights.”
That may be true, but it looks like the 20-year-old will move to Old Trafford.
Despite her fragile years, the Utrecht-born starlet now has 74 appearances in all Ajax tournaments. He has also played six times with the Netherlands.
Ten Hag is obviously a big fan and believes he is a player who can make a real impact at the Theater of Dreams. The report does not give details of the progress of the negotiations.
But it is estimated that United will have to part with £ 43 million to get their man.
Wood has a class for solving double problems
Manchester United is fighting for sixth place in the ranking of champions in 2021-2022. A combination of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralph Rangnik failed to deliver the goods.
