The 33-year-old pedestrian died in hospital after a collision with an A39

A woman died in hospital after a fatal collision with a minibus and a pedestrian this morning (June 24th). The accident happened near Penryn on the A39 between the Treliever roundabout and the Kernick Road Industrial Estate at 9.35am.

The 33-year-old woman, who was from the local area, received life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Derifd Hospital in Cornwall, where she later died. Her close relatives have been notified.

The A39 was closed in both directions as forensic investigators investigated the collision, but reopened at around 4.20pm this afternoon. The driver of the van stopped at the scene and helped the employees with their information.

Police are urging witnesses to the incident or anyone who may have camera footage to come out. They also thanked the public who helped at the scene.

Devon and Cornwall police said in a statement: “Police investigating a fatal road crash near Penrine are urging all witnesses to come out. Officers were called for signals of a collision involving a Volkswagen van and a pedestrian on the A39 between the Treliver roundabout and the Kernick Road Industrial Estate Penryn, around 9:35 a.m. today, Friday, June 24.

“The pedestrian, a 33-year-old woman from the local area, received life-threatening injuries and was taken by air ambulance to Cornwall Hospital, where she later died. Her relatives have been informed and supported by the police.

“The driver of the van stopped at the scene and helped the police with their inquiries. The A39 between Kernick Road Industrial Estate and the Treliever roundabout was closed as forensic investigators investigated the collision, but reopened at around 4:20 p.m.

“Officers from the Specialized Traffic Police Team would like to thank those members of the public who assisted at the scene of the accident.
