The actor won a defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard

Hurd told the jury that Depp had repeatedly attacked her and launched a “campaign of global humiliation” against her after their divorce.

The case is being conducted in Fairfax County, Virginia, as online editions of the Washington Post are published using servers there. The newspaper was not accused in the case.

During the trial, Hurd, who starred in the film Aquaman, testified that she was attacked more than a dozen times, including sexual assault with a bottle of alcohol.

The jury was shown text messages in which Depp called her a “dirty whore” and an “idiot cow” and said she wanted to die. One message said, “Let’s burn Amber !!!”

The jury was also shown recordings of the former couple’s fights and shown graphic photos of Depp’s bloody finger. He told the jury that Hurd threw a bottle of vodka that cut off the top of her finger during a dispute in 2015, which she denied.

Depp told jurors that he never hit Hurd and that she made up allegations of abuse. His case was that he was the one who had been physically attacked by Hurd many times.

The verdict means that Hurd was trusted by a judge of the British Supreme Court, but he was not trusted by an American jury.

In 2020, Depp sued The Sun for calling him a “women’s fighter.” A judge ruled that the actor’s description was “essentially true”.

However, he vowed to fight, and his team of lawyers on Wednesday night welcomed the verdict.

A spokesman for Depp Schillings’ law firm said: “We are delighted that Johnny has had the opportunity to explain what he went through, no matter how painful it may have been.

“Following the UK ruling, Johnny said it would not change his struggle to tell the truth, that his determination remains strong and that he intends to prove the allegations against him false. We believe that now he is finally able to achieve this and we could not be happier for him. “
