SAN FRANCISCO – A man with a “sharp weapon” attacked passengers at a terminal at San Francisco International Airport on Friday, leaving three with cuts and abrasions before being arrested, authorities said.
The man went to the airport, entered the international terminal, “walked around the departure terminal and pulled out a sharp weapon” before attacking three men around 6 pm, police said.
The passengers were in the security zone when they were attacked, Russell Mackie, the airport’s on-duty manager, told the San Francisco Chronicle.
Police arrived and arrested a man whose name was not immediately released.
The victims were treated for minor injuries before continuing to travel and other operations at the airport were not affected, officials said.
It is unclear whether the suspect is a passenger and the motive for the attack is unknown, Russell Mackie said.
A KTVU-TV reporter covering the return of the Golden State Warriors to the airport’s home said a large knife had been removed from the scene.
Other details were not immediately available.
