The body of a missing Toronto man has been found on a West End beach more than seven months after he disappeared, according to his mother.
Rosemary White says the body of her son, Raheem White, was found this week at Sunnyside Beach, located along Lake Ontario’s Humber Bay.
Early Friday morning, Toronto police confirmed that the 26-year-old man was found on Monday, July 11, just before 10 a.m.
Rahim’s cause of death is unknown.
“Now we have to investigate what happened and uncover the truth about what happened from the date he went missing,” Rosemary wrote to CTV News Toronto on Friday.
Rahim was reported missing on December 1, 2021 and was last seen in the area of Kenneth Avenue and Indian Road shortly after 3:30 p.m.
A car driven by Rahim at the time of his disappearance was found by investigators in a parking lot on Lakeshore Boulevard West near Sunnyside Beach and contained his wallet and personal belongings inside, but his cellphone was missing.
At the time of the disappearance, White was working as a delivery driver and DJ.
Rosemary told CTV News Toronto in May that she believed the police investigation had begun to falter.
She said she often received messages from people claiming to have seen her son, but by the time the tips were investigated they were no longer relevant.
Police confirmed that Rosemary received her first official call with the force on May 11, nearly six months after Rahim was reported missing.
