The announcements come a day after CanMNT’s friendly against Panama at BC Place in Vancouver was canceled when the team refused to play due to a compensation dispute. The team also refused to train in the previous two days.

On Sunday night, CanMNT released a lengthy statement via Twitter calling for several changes to the current agreement, including changes to the governing body’s management, a “comprehensive package for friends and family” for this year’s FIFA World Cup in Qatar and 40 per cent of the World Cup. award for the cup.

Players also called for the development of a local women’s league and a fair compensation scheme for CanMNT and CanWNT.

But the women’s senior team rejected the idea, noting that while they welcomed the discussion and saw the men’s proposal as a “positive step”, they did not see FIFA’s equal rates as equal pay.

“The women’s national team will not accept an agreement that does not offer equal pay,” the statement said.

Canadian Football President Nick Bontis held a press conference in Vancouver on Sunday night, calling the players’ demands financially unfeasible.

“My job as president is a responsibility to the trust and solid health of this organization, not only for the last 120 years we have been alive, but for the next 100 years we will be alive,” Bontis said. “And I cannot accept this proposal, which will put our organization in a financial situation, which is untenable.”

Canada is still scheduled for a CONCACAF League match on Thursday in Vancouver against Curacao. If the team does not play this game, it will be subject to a fine from FIFA.
