A car burst into flames after an A31 crash in Wimborne this afternoon, causing minor injuries.

The Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Department was called at 2:04 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, on Mill Street following a crash of a black BMW X5 and a blue Ford Fiesta at an intersection with Hope Farm.

The driver of the Fiesta was slightly injured before the car caught fire by the roadside.

A Wimborn crew witnessed the fire, which was extinguished with two hose reel jets and two breathing apparatus. The call to stop came at 2:31 p.m.

The road was closed while emergency services cleared the area. Dorset police officers, who were also on the scene, arranged for the car to be retrieved.
