The full event will take place on June 2 for the Queen’s anniversary.
Saturday’s Trooping the Color, reviewed by the Major General, is identical to the Trooping the Color reviewed by the Queen, except that it excludes guards on duty on the streets around the Mall.
Up to 1,450 soldiers from the Royal Division and the Royal Cavalry Artillery, along with up to 400 musicians from the massive orchestras, took part in the Horse Guard parade for the first of two official screenings.
The soldiers were inspected by Major General Christopher Gika CBE, who commands the household division.
Prince William will attend the event next weekend before the Queen watches the main event as part of the anniversary holiday.
