Avatar: The first trailer for Waterway is finally here and, oddly enough, is accumulating a noticeable amount of heat.
The last time we saw Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) in the first Avatar, he would more or less become Na’vi’s savior after being adopted into their tribe, forgiven for being a human spy, and eventually decided to stand up. on the side of the aliens in their fight against humanity to save Pandora. By transferring his consciousness to the body of his hybrid avatar man / Na’vi, Jake was able to start a new life on Pandora – whose atmosphere is toxic to humans – along with his chosen half of Na’vi, Neytiri (Zoe Saldanya).
As Jake and Neytiri return to the first trailer for The Way of Water, it’s not just the two. In the time between the first film and The Waterway, Jake and Neytiri had children and there are a number of shots in the trailer that focus on how important the growth of the Na’vi families will be in the film’s history. In addition to Na’vi’s child, the trailer also includes footage of Jake and Neytiri, who seemingly care for a man who must wear a special mask to survive on the planet.
The presence of the human child raises some questions about how the Earth reacts to the Na’vi, rejecting its attempt to rob Pandora of its precious unobtanium, but the suggestion is that humanity cannot be deterred in the end. Along with many new views of Pandora’s Metkayina coastal reefs, the trailer also spotlights photos of Na’vi dressed in human combat gear and carrying weapons, suggesting that people have doubled the use of avatars as weapons of war.
Unclear, as the plot of The Way of Water is simply judging by the trailer, all the necessary elements for the story of Na’vi are forced to protect their homes from resource-hungry invaders – again – present. For any other franchise, one prerequisite that is clear may not be enough to move people to the cinemas, but with all the noise “Avatar: The Water’s Way” accumulated before its release, it may work.
Avatar: The Waterway will hit theaters on December 16.
