The saga of Warner Bros. the upcoming Flash movie has been a long one, and in recent weeks much of it has revolved around lead actor Ezra Miller. Earlier this month, it was reported that despite a series of problems with Miller over the past few years – including allegedly strangling a fan and arresting Hawaii twice – the WB plans to continue the Flash movie with Miller in the role, even while pausing other projects in which the actor was supposed to be involved. But as more press comes out about the 29-year-old non-binary actor, it seems that WB’s plans for the actor after Flash hits have changed.
Throughout June, Miller was charged with harassing a non-binary child to the point of receiving a temporary harassment warrant. Separately, Miller was also accused of brainwashing and cutting the hair of an 18-year-old North Dakota boy named Tokata Iron Eyes, and in response deleted their presence on social media, but not before releasing a video ridiculing authorities who wanted to execute Miller’s defense order filed by Iron Eyes’ parents. During all this Warner Bros. He remained silent, saying Deadline said the studio’s original plan was to wait and hope that more accusations or headline-grabbing news would emerge. But now their sources say the plan has changed: despite more accusations, Miller will not return as Flash after The Flash.
Miller first joined the DC machine in 2016 with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and later joined the WB’s Fantastic Beasts franchise as one of his key characters. They have appeared during the tenure of both Beasts and other DCEU franchise films and even had a short cameo on Arrowverse. At present, it doesn’t seem likely that WB will abandon Miller entirely and rework The Flash; on the one hand, it has been under development for a long time and has already cost a lot of money trying to see the light of day. It doesn’t sound like WB has any plans for who will take over the golden wings and the red suit after the release of The Flash: right now they just want to try to release the thing on June 23, 2023 and move on.
