The head of Tory Lib Dem is losing his seat … as a Liberal Democrat

The Conservative chief of staff, dedicated to defeating the Liberal Democrats, lost his battle for a seat on the Somerset Council to the Liberal Democrats.

Hayward Burt has given advice to Tory grassroots organizations on how to drive the “yellow danger” into the hearts of conservatives known as the Blue Wall, who are being attacked by Sir Ed Davy’s party.

He gave a “master class” to the Conservative Women’s Organization in November on “Fighting Liberal Democrats – Winning Policies.”

And he was in a regional party panel, to which the invitations read: “The Liberal Democrats are slowly making their way to their home constituencies, and with the May election approaching, do you know the best way to combat the yellow danger?” Join us as we explore options and listen to expert advice. ”

But in Thursday’s local election for the new unitary government in Somerset, he took third place in Blackmoor Vale after two Liberals who took both seats in the area.

Mr. Burt represents Blackmoor Vale, along with fellow Tory William Wallace, on the South Somerset County Council, one of five councils that have been absorbed into the new unitary government since April next year.

But both Burt and Wallace failed to join the new council, gaining 1,443 and 1,328 votes, respectively, against Sarah Dyke in 1814 and Nicholas Clark in 1,590 votes.

Ed Davy’s party won full control of Somerset’s new council.

A Lib Dem source said: “Honestly, even the greatest political strategist could not stop the reaction against Boris Johnson beyond the Blue Wall.

“He is a single group that wins elections for the Liberal Democrats.
