The latest January 6 hearing shows what Trump’s entourage really thought of pushing Pence

With new evidence gathered on Thursday, the commission sought to draw a direct link between Trump’s actions and the Capitol attack, which she said put Vice President Mike Pence’s life at serious risk.

Vice President Liz Cheney, in her closing statement, reviewed the upcoming evidence, promising information at their next hearing on Tuesday about Trump’s efforts to put pressure on Republican lawmakers, election officials and even federal officials to corrupt election counts.

“We will investigate the determination of the Trump team to hand over material fraudulent multi-state electoral lists to our government’s executive and legislature,” she said, “and to put pressure on state lawmakers to come together to overturn legitimate election results.” .

After establishing Pence on Thursday as an “honorable man” who had the courage to fulfill his constitutional duty on Jan. 6, despite the campaign of pressure and threats to his life, Cheney ended by making a stark contrast to Trump.

“An honorable person who received the information and advice that Mr. Trump received from his campaign experts and his staff, a person who loved his country more than himself, would recognize this election,” she said. “Indeed, we know that a number of President Trump’s closest aides have called on him to do so.”
