A video taken by a doorbell camera shows the frightening moments when a victim faces two suspects in the latest armed theft of a GTA car.
The robbery took place in a residential area in Vaughan on Tuesday afternoon, seconds after the victim stopped in her alley.
Shortly before 1:10 p.m., police responded to reports of theft of a Purcell Crescent vehicle near Kiel and Major Mackenzie Drive.
A man was confronted by two suspected men brandishing firearms and demanding the victim’s black Audi, police said.
The video of the bell, received from CTV news in Toronto, shows two hooded suspects approaching the victim.
The video shows the victim retreating to his front lawn as he confronts the suspects. One of them turns for some reason and leaves the frame, while the other walks menacingly towards the victim.
No weapons were seen in the video, but the victim – who did not want to be named – told CTV News she saw two pistols.
A request for keys and a wallet may be heard before the suspects are approached by the victim.
One of the suspects then drove away in a Honda Civic.
The victim then watched helplessly from his lawn as the other suspect got into his black Audi SUV and drove away with his car and wallet.
The victim believes he was followed home by the suspect, police said.
Police describe the suspects as black men in their 20s.
Numerous car thefts have been reported in the GTA in recent weeks, including an incident in which Toronto Maple Leafs striker Mitch Marner stole his Range Rover at Ettobicock.
