The Leeds pub is on fire as police begin arson hunt

A major fire that tore an abandoned pub in Leeds on Friday is believed to have started deliberately, police confirmed.

West Yorkshire Police (WYP) has registered a crime of arson after the empty Sun Hotel was set on fire last night. Firefighters arrived at Church Street, Hunslett, around 9:30 p.m., and police closed the road while crews dealt with the blaze.

The fire was quickly contained, but caused enormous damage to the former pub.

WYP is now appealing for information and wants to hear from anyone who thinks they may have seen someone behaving suspiciously in the area shortly before the fire.
