A major fire that tore an abandoned pub in Leeds on Friday is believed to have started deliberately, police confirmed.
West Yorkshire Police (WYP) has registered a crime of arson after the empty Sun Hotel was set on fire last night. Firefighters arrived at Church Street, Hunslett, around 9:30 p.m., and police closed the road while crews dealt with the blaze.
The fire was quickly contained, but caused enormous damage to the former pub.

WYP is now appealing for information and wants to hear from anyone who thinks they may have seen someone behaving suspiciously in the area shortly before the fire. A spokesman for the force said: “Police have registered a crime of arson after a fire in an abandoned building in the Hunslet area of Leeds.
“Officers were notified of a fire in the Church Street building, Hunslet, shortly before 9:30 p.m. yesterday (Friday, June 10). If anyone has information about this violation or has seen someone behave suspiciously, they are asked to contact the police via 101 Live Chat or by calling 101, quoting crime 13220314266. “
