The American singer wore black and gold body jewelry that shaped the outline of a bra with appropriate gold pastes. It also included a mini skirt, wrist cuffs and prominent earrings, and she completed the look with barely held heels and shiny hair on one side.
Walker shared an image of Laurel Street’s design on his Instagram page on Sunday, saying it was inspired by traditional Hmong jewelry and drew criticism for wearing local community items out of context.
Laurel Street, who along with Walker did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment, posted an apology in the brand’s history on Instagram, noting that she did not want to offend anyone.
“I apologize for not sharing and teaching the history of the Hmong people and that they will be further educated,” the statement said on Instagram.
The statement continued: “Summer Walker is a living breathing goddess, our intention was not to sexualize these pieces, but rather a celebration of women’s lives and beauty.”
