The Ontario school has been ordered to take shelter after a bear was spotted nearby

A school in Ontario is currently in shelter after a bear was seen in the area.

It happened on Tuesday morning near Beaverton Public School, about 100 kilometers northeast of Toronto, in the Durham region.

The Durham County School Board said in a tweet that authorities were aware of the surveillance.

The doors of the school will remain locked until the protocol is revoked, the board said.

The school doors will remain locked until the protocol is lifted.
