One person has died after a parachute accident at the airport in Arnprior, Ontario.
Emergency crews responded to the incident at Arnprior Airport at around 12.45pm. Wednesday.
Ontario Provincial Police confirmed that one person died in the incident.
“This is an ongoing investigation,” OPP Const. Brianna Roberge told CTV News Ottawa. “Renfrew OPP Crime Branch and OPP Forensic Branches are on scene.”
Renfrew paramedics told CTV News Ottawa the accident involved a hard landing.
Police spent the afternoon at the airport investigating.
“The OPP prides itself on conducting a very thorough investigation,” Roberge said. “So they’re going to be here as long as it takes to make sure they’ve uncovered everything they might need to do to conduct a good investigation.”
Parachute Ottawa and Mobility Lab Inc. operate from Arnprior Airport. The airport manager says they’ve been told Parachute Ottawa is working with the Ontario Provincial Police as part of the investigation.
