The OPP rescued nine people from Georgian Bay over two days

Provincial police said they rescued nine people from the waters of Georgian Bay over two days.

According to police, seven of those people were rescued from the waters within two hours.

On Thursday afternoon, officers spotted three women waving for help as they boarded two paddleboards two kilometers offshore at Wasaga Beach. Only one of the rowers was wearing a life jacket and the wind had blown them off shore.

Forty-five minutes later, police were called to the Beachwood Road area after a 12-year-old and a 13-year-old on a foam mattress were blown into the bay. The two young men were brought back to shore.

At 3:30 p.m., two men were rescued near Northwinds Bay in the town of Blue Mountains after their inflatable blew up in the bay.

On Canada Day, two females were rescued after their inflatable raft washed ashore at Wasaga Beach.

The OPP reminds the public to check weather conditions beforehand and always wear a life jacket.
