The rapist’s son left his mother “black and blue” after a brutal attack

A man pulled his mother out of bed and smashed her head against a wall in a brutal attack on their home.

Daniel Coleburn left Margaret Coleburn “black and blue” after a brutal attack on their home earlier this year. The 27-year-old’s actions are so serious that the judge not only imprisoned him, but also forbade him to contact her after she told prosecutors she never wanted to see him again.

Derek Jones, a prosecutor, said Coleburn’s mother told police she “felt like she was walking on eggshells” while he was at their home in Buttle. On the morning of April 4 this year he got angry for no apparent reason when she offered him breakfast, grabbed the refrigerator in the kitchen, and pulled it so hard that the door snapped open.

He then left the house, but returned and tried to get his mother’s attention by shouting for her. Mr Jones said: “She ignored him when he shouted her name. He went into her bedroom and hit her hard on the right arm. He was not angry at the time, but laughing. She said: “What did you do this for? It hurts. He said “I was just kidding.”

Mr Jones said Ms Coleburn was on blood thinners and her son knew it would easily bruise her. However, he grabbed her by the hair and pulled her out of bed before leaving. She tried to pick up her phone to call the police, but he responded brutally.

Mr Jones said: “The accused realized what she was trying to do and returned to the room and hit her head on the wall twice, causing her to bleed. She was left with an 8 cm head wound and extensive bruises. Her screams were so loud that the neighbors called the police.

Coleburn himself called an ambulance and initially said the wounds were caused by an accident, but later admitted he was injured and criminally damaged. He has numerous previous convictions, including drug trafficking, beatings against his mother and criminal damages against an ex-partner.

Paul Becker, defending himself, said Colburn was deeply remorseful and ashamed of what he had done. Calling for the judge to postpone his sentence in favor of further support from probation, he said: [Colebourne’s conviction against his ex]”

Mr Becker said Coleburn was suffering from anxiety and depression and was in a precarious mental state at the time due to his grandfather’s death. Colburn himself apologized during the hearing, but also tried to question some of the facts heard in court.

Judge David Swinterton told him he had left his mother in black and blue and rejected calls for a suspended sentence, saying he had been given a chance before. Judge Swinterton said: “You, Mr. Coleburn, are a person who cannot control your temper and who poses a risk to those around you or around you at home.

HMP Altcourse’s Colburn was sentenced to 18 months in prison. Judge Swinterton also issued a five-year restraining order after hearing a statement from his mother, saying she “I don’t want him ever approaching me again.”
