The Raptors choose Christian Coloco in 33rd place in the 2021-22 draft

The Toronto Raptors officially have someone taller than six feet and nine on the list. Christian Coloco is a seven-foot-tall center and one from Cameroon who plays a great deal of defense. The fit goes deeper than that.

He started playing basketball late in his life, so the argument there, as it was for Pascal Siakam, is that there is a latent development in the tank. He is also from Douala, the same hometown as Siakam.

Coloco played three years in college for Arizona before jumping out in 2021-22, averaging 12.6 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game. He had a touch of the line and was a better pass than his numbers showed. For now, we’ll have a lot more to choose from, but mostly … damn … what a selection of Raptors.
