A helicopter is shown searching the ocean off Portugal’s Gulf of South during a search for a man who was reported missing last week.
Police confirmed that the body found in the ocean near Whittles Bay on Tuesday was that of a missing man in the Portuguese Gulf of South.
Sixty-eight-year-old Loyola Hartery was last seen leaving her home on an ATV shortly before 6 a.m. last Friday.
A thorough search of the land and the surrounding coast failed to find any trace of the man.
That was until Tuesday, when the body was spotted by the crew of a merchant ship off nearby Witless Bay.
The RCMP extends its condolences to Hartery’s family and friends.
