The RCMP officer pleaded not guilty to sexual offenses

A lawsuit is pending against an RCMP employee who allegedly exposed 15-year-old girls on their way home from a school in western Vancouver.

Andrew James Seangio, 37, pleaded not guilty to 10 counts of indecent exposure and public masturbation for incidents allegedly occurring between August 2018 and March 2019.

More than two years after his arrest, the trial against Seangio began on Monday in the British Columbia Supreme Court in downtown Vancouver.

Seangio sat quietly in the courtroom as the royal prosecutors explained the jury’s accusations. He is accused of driving up to the students as they were returning from York House School and Little Flower Academy – two private schools in Vancouver’s Shawnee neighborhood – after which he bared his genitals and touched them before leaving.

The first witness of the test is obt. Blake Chersinoff, one of the leading investigators in the case.

After initial reports of a man exposing himself to children in the area, Chersinov said the Vancouver Police Department had held security presentations at both schools and set up a line of advice. Shortly afterwards, several victims appeared, and although none of them could give a definite description of the suspect, Chersinov said one of the girls noticed the make and model of the vehicle, along with the registration number.

Investigators confirmed that the vehicle belonged to Andrew Seangio, an RCMP police officer in Richmond.

Seangio is also accused of exposing himself to two undercover police officers who were walking around the Shonesi area wearing school uniforms for girls as part of the investigation.

Seangio joined the Richmond RCMP in 2016 and is currently being removed for a fee. A BC RCMP spokesman said his on-duty status was “subject to continuous review and evaluation”.

He also faces 37 charges in Ottawa of sexual violence and voyeurism ahead of alleged Vancouver crimes.

None of the allegations against Seangio have been proven in court.
