Capcom released another demo of Resident Evil Village earlier this week. It doesn’t include more content than previous previews, but it has the clear advantage that it can be played from your internet browser thanks to Immersive Stream for Games, a licensed version of Google’s Stadia technology.
The appropriate name Resident Evil Village online Streaming Demo allows you to play in previous demonstrations of the game “Village” and “Castle” via Chrome (on PC) and Safari (on iOS) without downloading anything. It also supports PlayStation and Xbox controllers in addition to the obvious keyboard and mouse layout. The resolution reaches 1080p and does not use HDR, but it is still an impressive achievement.
I spent some time playing this demo of Resident Evil Village and I can confirm that, yes, this is Resident Evil Village well. The graphics, of course, leave a lot to be desired, but the frame rate and latency were almost identical to the game on my PlayStation 5. Of course, your experience will vary depending on the speed of your internet connection (Capcom offers 10 Mbps or more). high).
Professional game writing can be a challenge. This is a constant tug of war from the desire to remain a professional, while expressing excitement and joy from our little electronic toys. We don’t have to write mini-ads. I was worried that this was exactly what I was doing with this blog, until I understood why I thought the browser demo was so great: its accessibility.
Resident Evil Village is great. Anything that removes the barrier to entry for people who want to try it out before losing bandwidth and / or spending $ 60 is worth celebrating. Streaming technology, even in the face of Stadia’s great failure, still feels like a big step for video games, especially when it comes to accessibility and preservation. We hope more developers see the benefits of allowing people to test their games this way.
It was recently announced that Resident Evil Village is also coming to PlayStation VR2, if that’s your thing.
