Capcom officially announced the long-standing rumored remake of Resident Evil 4 via Sony’s State of Play today.
Moreover, we got a pretty solid look at the remake through a detailed cinematic trailer shot on PS5 and the release date of March 24, 2023. We also learned that there is content for PSVR2 under development, although no more details have been shared about it component.
According to a post on the PlayStation blog shared after the event, Resident Evil 4 will be a “rethink” of the game’s 2005 plot, with the aim of “achieving the most up-to-date quality for survival horror suitable for 2023, while preserve the essence of the original game. ” It looks like there may be changes to the original controls in addition to the graphics updates.

The proposed remake of Resident Evil 4 came as part of a leak from Capcom in late 2020; A data breach has reportedly found references to a remake of RE4 among other future Capcom projects. Recent reports from the rumor mill suggest that the project has been the subject of a “partial restart” at Capcom due to internal disagreements over its direction.
