Voters in Tiverton have spoken out about the critical vote in the constituency tomorrow. The Liberal Democrats remain favorites, according to bookmakers, but one in the city center said today that after talks with people in the city, he predicted a “narrow victory” for the Tories.
Star Sports Bet’s William Kejani was in front of Tiverton City Hall, talking to passersby and noting support for the Conservatives, despite much noise from the Liberal Democrats.
He explained: “I think the mood is uncertain in the sense that many people, especially outside Tiverton, have suggested that the Liberal Democrats will take this and make it the third major change in the midterm elections.
“I would be calmer about this opinion if I talked to the people here. I note that there is a greater openness to consider the candidate for the Liberal Democrats, Richard Fourd, and the Liberal Democrats, as he may be in a different situation, but I also think that a few people are still ready to remain Tories and there is a power of feeling with it. They are not mobile blue voters, but Tory supporters, whether they like Helen Herford or not.
“A lot of people liked Neil Parish and were upset that he had to leave, even though they thought he should.
“The Liberal Democrats are still the favorites, but we are taking more money for the Tories. The lowest price of the Tories. We are deliberately looking to level our book and we are looking for people who come out for Lib Dems with the best chances.

“Our assessment and chances tell us that the Tories will get between 30 and 40 percent of the vote. These options in the stock markets are narrowing. If I had to say anything based on the money I saw, a small victory for Tori would be where I would land. “
Downtown, people were busy enjoying the sun, but took the time to talk to Devon Live about their views. Former mayor Wally Burke hopes vote “sees change”
He said: “There must be a change because it has been under the same batch for too long. Maybe this will give Boris Johnson the idea to take off his ass and walk away.
Business owners have also spoken out, with one, Guy Anderson, a former Conservative member, now hoping the Tories will lose.
“I hope the Liberal Democrats win,” he said. “I would not have voted in this election at all because I did not see a goal in the vote, but then I saw Helen Herford on television and now I am determined to vote for Lib Dem so that it does not win.
“Helen seems to be everything we don’t need, she avoids people and public contact. She says she’s a local girl, but I’ve never seen her and I don’t think she deserves it. “
However, a member of the Conservative Cabinet for Mid Devon, Chris Doe, said Helen would be the right choice. “I think the Conservatives will win. I was out with Helen, I met her and she is very positive. She spoke to MPs and spoke to them about specific things that concern us here in Tiverton, such as the police situation, housing and education. She is determined to set up a new school in Tiverton and is the only party to go and lobby for ministers.
“We are optimistic because we believe in our candidate. People have questions, but when they meet Helen, they say they will vote for her and vote for a conservative, no matter what happens, and they really liked Neil Parish.
Kaylee Digel of Liznojan Bookstore said: “All the media seems to be targeting the bookstore. I had CNN, BBC, RTE and now also Devon Live. Everyone wants to hear what we mean.
“Tiverton seems to be the focal point for the media lately, which is understandable and many of the questions seem to be about how they think it will go.
“From my experience of talking to people and the community, there is a lot of support for Lib Dems, so you never know. Are we just in a bubble and surrounded by people who think this will happen and the Tories will get it again? If we all stick together, let’s hope this sends waves in the rest of the country, getting rid of the Tories, where they’ve been in place for a very long time. “
Others, who would normally vote for other parties, said they would “hold their noses” to vote for the Liberal Democrats, seeing this as the best way to oust the Conservatives. Tony Wheeler, a former member of the Tiverton City Council and a staunch Labor supporter, will not support Labor candidate Liz Paul this time.
“I think the Tories will lose. I will hold my nose and vote for Lib Dem as a chance to take out the Tories. The area is so tariff that they will not vote for Labor in general.
“Labor candidate Liz Paul is a woman with a great principle who would do well for the region, but unfortunately the Tories would prefer to vote for anyone but Labor.”
