A man climbed the Frederick Douglas Memorial Bridge in Washington on Friday to protest the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Rowe against Wade.
The man, who revealed himself on Twitter as Guido Reichstater, began climbing the bridge around 11 a.m., according to FOX 5 DC. While the man was on the bridge, traffic was stopped while officers tried to contact the man.

Reichstadter tweeted while on top of the bridge at 3:24 p.m., saying, “Let’s close it nonviolently day after day until [sic] the rights are protected. “The arch is 70 feet high.

The Regional Department of Transport announced that the bridge was stopped.
“The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) announces that the Frederick Douglas Memorial Bridge (FDMB) is currently closed. The closure is necessary for security reasons related to the protest activity and will remain in force until the next order, “the statement said. “Motorcyclists are strongly encouraged to plan their afternoon trips in advance and to use alternative routes away from South Capital Street and FDMB. FDMB, expect moderate delays and watch out for emergency personnel. “

Reichstadter said in a live video on Instagram that he plans to be on top of the bridge “as physically as I can” after Roe’s Supreme Court overturned Wade.
