Stormy weather is expected to return to Ontario on Wednesday. Multiple thunderstorms are looming over much of Ontario as a complex environment takes shape over the province. These thunderstorms will bring the risk of large hail, heavy rain and damaging wind gusts. Hot and humid conditions will also return ahead of the passage of the cold front, with special weather advisories in place for some areas. For more on impacts and timing, read below.

Wednesday: Multiple rounds of strong storm potential as temperatures and humidity rise
Extremely hot and humid conditions are expected Wednesday ahead of a cold front, with daytime highs reaching the low 30s and feeling lows in the low 40s for parts of southern Ontario. Cool overnight temperatures on Wednesday will provide minimal relief from the heat. There are special weather forecasts for some.
Additionally, the first round of storms will begin developing overnight Tuesday near Lake Superior before moving south and east during the predawn hours and early morning hours Wednesday. The exact path and timing of this first convective system remains uncertain, but will be a major piece of the puzzle of how the rest of the day plays out.
Additional sets of storms will move in by midday and early afternoon, fueled by whatever instability recovers from the morning storms. They should merge into a line, creating the threat of heavy rain and damaging winds, but embedded areas of rotation may also be possible.
Storms will continue to move east through the evening and overnight, with the threat of severe storms continuing until atmospheric instability eases after sunset and a cold front clears the region.
